Captain Mark Reinhardt

Who else would take an Endeavour 43 and add 9 feet to the back of the boat?

Matt from Sailing GBU ran across Pampero and Freedom - The electric skiff

Over the last several years, Mark has sailed to Guatemala twice to work on his boat. Everyone thought he was crazy for putting solar panels up the mizen mast, but they stayed up through storms and sailing thousands of miles. When he said he would add 9 feet to the back of his sailboat, again people told him it wouldn’t work or the boat would sink. Again after a few more thousand miles, Pampero is in perfect condition.

Mark wanted to build an electric skiff, so he designed one from the ground up. He charges it up with a wind generator on Pampero and a solar panel mounted on the roof of the skiff.

He wrote a book called Off The Grid which sells on Amazon, then a second book for kids called The Adventures of Lil Tip Sea. He also works a few months a year taking Boy Scouts out sailing. He has ranked #1 captain year after year. He will be taking the last group of Scouts this summer from St. Thomas before he starts his trip around the world.
